Quick answer: You can check any Pakistani court case status online for free. Open the relevant court's case management portal - scp.gov.pk for the Supreme Court, lhc.gov.pk, cases.shc.gov.pk, peshawarhcmb.gov.pk and bhc.gov.pk for the high courts, or the district judiciary portals - then enter your case number (and sometimes CNIC or advocate name) to see the hearing date, last order and status.

Pakistan's courts have moved almost entirely online for case tracking. Whether you are a litigant chasing a hearing date, a lawyer confirming a cause list, or a family member following a relative's matter, you no longer need to visit the registry in person. Each province runs its own e-court or Case Flow Management System (CFMS), and the superior courts have their own portals. This guide maps every one of them, shows what you need to search, and explains how to read the result correctly.

What you need before you search

Case management portals are indexed by the case number, so that is the field you should have ready. A Pakistani case number has three parts - the case type, a running number, and the year, for example Writ Petition 1234/2025 or Civil Suit 567/2024. You will find it on the vakalatnama, the plaint or the last order you received. Most portals also let you search by:

  • CNIC of a party (usually entered without dashes)
  • Party name (petitioner or respondent)
  • Advocate name - useful if your lawyer filed the matter

Case registration and numbering flow from the procedural codes - the Code of Civil Procedure 1908 for civil matters and the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 for criminal ones - which is why the same three-part format appears across the country.

Provincial and court portals at a glance

The table below lists the official case status portal for each court, the registries or benches it covers, and how you can search. All are free and need no login.

Portal addresses and layouts are updated by the courts from time to time. If a link changes, search the court's official name plus "case status" and use only the .gov.pk or .gos.pk result - avoid unofficial mirrors that may show stale data.

Checking a high court case

The high courts carry the heaviest constitutional and appellate load, so their portals are the most detailed. On the Lahore High Court system you first pick the registry - Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan or Bahawalpur - then enter the case number to pull the fixation date, the last order sheet and the current status. The Islamabad High Court MIS allows a wider search by CNIC or advocate, which is handy when you do not have the exact case number. Sindh's portal similarly separates the Karachi principal seat from its regional benches.

These are the same forums that exercise writ jurisdiction under Article 199 of the Constitution. If your matter is a constitutional petition, see our guide to the high courts and writ jurisdiction to understand the case types you will see listed.

Checking a district court case

Most civil suits, family matters and criminal trials sit in the district judiciary. Punjab and Sindh both run mature CFMS portals that cover every district court, including the family courts. To search, choose the district, select the case type (civil, criminal or family) and enter the case number. The result shows the next date of hearing, the presiding judge, and short remarks such as "for arguments" or "for evidence". For a plain-English breakdown of how those stages fit together, read our walkthrough of civil suit procedure from plaint to decree.

How to read the result correctly

A case status page typically shows the same core fields. Knowing what each means saves confusion:

FieldWhat it tells you
Next date of hearingWhen you or your lawyer must attend. Confirm it against the cause list.
Stage / forThe purpose of the next hearing - for example arguments, evidence, or framing of issues.
Last order sheetA short note of what the court did on the previous date.
StatusPending, disposed of, decided, or transferred.
Court / benchThe judge and court room where the matter is fixed.

Two cautions apply. First, dates beyond the current week are provisional and may shift, so always cross-check the daily cause list the evening before. Second, the online status is for information only. For anything you intend to rely on in court - proof of an order, or the date to calculate an appeal deadline under the Limitation Act 1908 - obtain a certified copy (naqal) from the copying branch.

What to do if you cannot find your case

If a search returns nothing, work through these points before assuming an error:

  • Wrong registry or district - pick the exact bench where the matter was filed.
  • Newly filed - a fresh case can take a few working days to appear after institution.
  • Format - enter the case number exactly, and try the CNIC without dashes.
  • Wrong forum - an appeal or revision carries a new number in the higher court; see the civil appeal process.

Still stuck? The registry or your advocate can confirm the position in minutes. If you do not yet have counsel, our note on how to hire a lawyer in Pakistan explains what to ask for.

Yes. Every superior and district court portal is free and needs no registration. You only need your case number, and sometimes a CNIC or advocate name.

What is the fastest way to find my case?

Search by the exact case number - type, number and year. It is the primary index on every portal and the most reliable field.

Can I check a Supreme Court case online?

Yes, through the Online Case Information page at scp.gov.pk. Select the registry - Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar or Quetta - and enter the case number.

How often are portals updated?

Usually within one to three working days of a hearing. For the confirmed next date, check the cause list, which is published daily.
